I went to lunch with a friend at Pok Pok today–my first time there, though it’s walking distance from my house, and I’ve tried to go there several times, but it’s always been too crowded, and I lost all my patience for waiting in line for restaurants when I lived in San Francisco.

But we made a point to get there the moment they opened, at 11:30; and we were the third group in; and it was MARVELOUS!!! I see the point, now.

Though I still don’t want to wait in line for restaurants.

If you were trying out Thai food, what would you recommend for starters?

Have you not had Thai food? It's marvelous! Start with Pad Thai, and maybe a soup--there are some awesome coconut milk soups. Curries are marvelous; green curry is my favorite, but there's also red and yellow. You can usually let them know how spicy you want it, from "not at all" to "eyes watering". Enjoy!

No I haven't. I've thought about it lately. I looked at the menu and was a little unsure. Thanks for the advice.
